Over the course of my education and my career, I have been able to create and develop projects that help organizations reach their goals. From consulting to campaigning, I channel my passion as a communicator into work that is meaningful and professional.
ETX Liberation is a branch of Austin Liberation Youth Movement, a grassroots youth-led organization in Austin, Texas. The main goal of ALYM and its chapters is to implement revolutionary change and as of recently have mainly been focused on youth prison abolition and advocacy training. ETX Liberation hopes to bring education and advocacy surrounding the intersections of the following: mutual aid, prison abolition, racial equity, queer liberation, disability advocacy, reproductive justice, harm reduction
Spring 2021
For my senior capstone, I co-established an undergraduate research group to examine how trust plays out within organizational leadership. We gathered data and conducted analysis on the International Affairs Society to create a professional communications report following social science methods and professional ethics. The International Affairs Society (IAS) is an organization at the University of Texas at Austin that aims to facilitate the success of its members within the field of international relations and to provide a place to discuss international political issues. Through observations gained by attending general meetings, officer meetings, interviews, and roundtable we were able to analyze how the group interacts from the inside out. Overall, this study analyzes the existence of trust through several terms that consist of warmth, competence, integrity, vulnerability, and transparency. This assessment was done in order to assess how politically active groups distribute power between members and what affects this has on the outcomes and goals of the organization.
Summer of 2021
As a communications Intern at the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, I was instructed to create a mental health campaign for students following the Covid-19 Pandemic, as a decline in mental health among young adults was a silent epidemic following the events of 2020. I was able to create the campaign under the supervision of the communications director who helped me piece together and choose marketing strategies for Instagram and Facebook. This campaign provided students access to online mental health resources and focused on issues such as anxiety and depression. Overall, the campaign was able to reach over 500 students.
